In 1998, Marc Teissier made his long-awaited
dream come true: to create his own make of
trials bike. He surrounded himself with a team
of people who had in-depth experience in the
field. Above all they started from scratch,
with no commitments other than those he personally
brought with him. The goal was to offer a product
that would come as close to the fans' wishes
as possible and achieve the highest level of
quality.
Entering
such a competitive and demanding market, with
its technological advances and sporting demands
which move more quickly than the bikes themselves,
was a true challenge. Today, three years on,
we can state we have achieved Marc's goal with
flying colors.
In just over three years of
production, Sherco has positioned itself
as a leading contender in terms of the field's
technology, and is fighting for the sales
lead with companies with a much longer history
in the market.
The
positive response from our clients and their
satisfaction is not merely a reward; it is,
above all, our goal. The key to success is
simple: a group of professionals dedicated
exclusively to trials bikes. Their passion
has become a model for all those who make up
Sherco's team. Behind each and every one of
them is a true trials fan, and from this starting
point, the challenges have been easily reached.
The
year 2001 marked an important milestone in
Sherco's history, during this year we celebrated
unit number 6,000 leaving the production line
at Caldes de MontbuÌ (Spain).
During
this same period of time we have seen the
expansion of our activities into the world
of enduro, having acquired the know-how from
French firm HRD and created a new factory in
Nimes (France) which is dedicated exclusively
to this segment of the market.
In
this way, the 3,000 units produced under the
Sherco brand in 2001 will be increased by 50%
(4,500) in 2002, with a range of nine models
spread over two specialties, making the Sherco
brand bigger and better known; a brand that is
already present in 45 countries, throughout five
continents.
2001
has also been the year to mark the company's
first victories in the World Trials Championship,
those being the four GPs won by Graham Jarvis
and Marc Freixa, who also managed to end the
year second in the World Indoor Championship.
Sherco's commitment to sport
has been made clear from the start, and is
emphasized by Graham Jarvis' historic victory
in this year's Scottish Six Days.
Sherco
deliver his first produced unit on November 1.998,
the bike was the Sherco 2.5 with propietray 249
cc engine, deltabox frame and entered the market
being the lightest bike aivalable at this time.
This model has a great success and the factory
produced 1.000 units on his first year. To remark,
the victory of Graham Jarvis on the Scottish
Six Days on spring 1.999 and the factory made
a limited edition of 150 units of the same bike
used by Jarvis.
The
Sherco 2.5 for the year 2000 is, as a whole was
superior to its predecessor, as several improvements
were made to the model with even stricter quality
control, leading to an excellent product with
the best performance qualities in the market.
The model 2001 included some revolutionary
new concepts, like the new exhaust pipe, lower
center of gravity and a dry weight of only
69 kg. This demonstrates that Sherco is the
leader in the development of future trials
machines
The
Sherco .02 Series adds all the experience and
improvements of a victorious year in the hands
of Graham Jarvis and Marc Freixa. Sherco acquired
its first world round victories with this machine.
Motorcycle magazine reviews give it a thumbs
up for the maturity and overall balance of
this model.
The
new 2003 Sherco model improvements are a direct
result of our extensive involvement in world
competition. There are major improvements in
the 1.25, 2.0, 2.5 and 2.9 models.
We are also
releasing the new 0.8 model which, along
with the well-known 0.5 will complete our model
offerings and provide a model for every rider
who participates in this sport.
Sherco
expanded its market with the launch of two top
of the line model lightweight motorcycles that
are specifically designed for the Enduro and
Supermotard market. These models must be placed
at the very top of the list in the hard-fought
lightweight motorcycle market.
